OPUN
OPUN is a charity that promotes good design practice. We work across the East Midlands with the aim of improving the quality of new and restored places for the communities that live and work in them.

OPUN works in partnership with the public, private and community sectors to promote best practice in design and the quality of place. Whether your interest is in new development, protecting your heritage, understanding your streets, protecting open spaces or improving the sustainability of where you live - we have a wealth of expertise that can help.

Our Programmes

OPUN offers a range or services designed to support both professionals and communities wanting to improve places. We offer both learning and hands-on support – our team and panel are leaders in their field.

Our Work

We have a diverse portfolio of previous projects, covering everything from arts to learning to photography. Look through our projects to see how we have helped others.

OPUN in conjunction with Nottingham Trent University are launching a programme of Level One Building for Life 12 (BfL12) training. This one day course introduces you to Building for Life 12 and offers the opportunity to explore the questions during a practical site visit. Led by an author of Building for Life 12, this course is essential for all those working within the development industry in both the public and private sector as well as community representatives keen to shape their new residential development within their communities.

The last event was on the 1st November 2012, with more planned in 2013. OPUN is supporting the roll out of training in Leeds (21st Jan), Wigan (22nd Jan) and Birmingham (30 Jan). Events also planned in the South West to be confirmed.

To express an interest in attending, please contact garry@opun.org.uk

The Level One training is also an excellent platform for further study on the Nottingham Trent University Postgraduate Certificate in Planning, Urban Design & Sustainable Development. See www.ntu.ac.uk/urbandesign
